Practical information

Located 200 km south of Marrakech, Ouarzazate is a city of 200,000 inhabitants built at the foot of the Atlas, at 1200 meters above sea level, and it is nicknamed the Door of the Desert.

The city is highly prized by film directors thanks to its exceptional brightness, and it owns nowadays  a film museum and film studios accessible to the public. The Kasbah of Taourirt is now classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, but there are several other kasbahs, scattered around the city and notheless of interest.
